Well, my dad trained at Cheshire before going off with the B.E.F to France.
Then his Division fought on after the Dunkirk evacuation, along with the 51st Highland Division and remnants of the French army.
But the Americans wouldn't know about that, would they?
Then he was captured outside Rouen, and spent the rest of the war in a prison camp.
By the by, he was a prisoner for over two years before the Americans decided to get off their "Butts"

There are too many to count.... nearly every state in the union had some form of basic training center... The mobilizing of a large number of basic training soldiers in suc a short period of time put a demand on the military that the standard facilities could not handle.

Camp Shelby MS
Camp Atterbury, IN
Camp Robinson AR
Cap Grayling MI
Camp Barkeley TX
Camp Blanding Florida
Cap Callen CA

These are just a few that come to mind... check the internet for more information. There were also many locations used as suplementary Flight training Centers like Freeman Field in Seymour Indiana... Thats where the Tuscogee Airman trained..

I hope this was helpful...
