I purchased a 2003 Altima brand new. It was an awesome car. I have taken a test drive on a 06 Maxima and liked it. But here's the problem. I really am disappointed about how much more expensive the Maxima is to the Altima and how similar these cars look.

I would seriously check out the top of the line Altima, which will save you some money and will be so similar to the Maxima. I have nothing but good things to say about Nissan, my Nissan experience was great.

All that said when I was looking to buy another Altima/Maxima I had a couple of bad experiences with the local dealership (crappy sales people) and in the end after research I decided that the Acura TL was by far the better car, and traded for one of those.

Check out the link for reviews and price calculators. Without knowing your credit, trade, down payment or term it is really hard to know what your payment would be. But again, the link has some good calculators for you to figure it out.

figure your payment @ $20 per $1000 financed - that is a good estimate. for example financing $10000 = $200 payment. down payment will be based on your overall credit and your payment to income ratio. if you make 1500 a month gross the most the bank will let you go is normally 20% or 300 a month in this case. you may have to put money down to get into the payment range the bank sets based on you income. good luck!

I do not own this car but I think you should be more concerned about how well you like the car first, then be concerned about affording it. Your dealer will be the best source of cost information. After all you have paid too much if you do not like what you get.
