My toddler has outgrown her crib. I am now stuck trying to decide if I should take her beautiful crib bedding it to a child resale shop (we spent a lot of money on the crib set and all the matching room accessories) or hang on to it. It has so much sentimental value to it that I don't want to part with it, but I am faced with the reality that I can't be a pack rat and keep everything she has touched. I would like some creative ideas as to what I could do with the comforter, sheets, bumper etc. to create something worth keeping. I don't want to just have a whole bed set siting in the closet until she is 18. I thank you in advance for you time and suggestions! :)

I've heard of people making a family quilt. The quilt would contain pieces of fabric from the bedding, maybe something of gramdma's, maybe a hankie from your wedding. That way you can keep all the sentimental things without being a packrat and you can pass it down to your child.

I would save the bed. If you did not keep the box to store it in, you may be able to get a box from a baby store when they set up a crib display. As for the bedding set, why can't she use it on her toddler bed? If that is not an option then why not use it in decorating her room. Or you could use it as a special blanket for when you and she curl up and read a story before bed. If it is really and elaborate set, you could actually frame it between glass and use it as decoration that way.
Although you can't hang on to everything, you can hang on to some things and the bed and bedding are usually something that is really special when you can wrap your child in a blanket that you were once wrapped in. Both my children (winter babies) came home in a quilt that my mother embroidered and my great aunt quilted for me as a baby. It was really special.

am the same way. So was my mom, My mom saved the whole bassinet and blankets, and everything from when I was little. I love them soooo much. So of course I had two girls and for a while they slept in the bassinet that was mine. then I bought them there cribs. And guess what I saved them too. I hope one day they will get to put there baby to sleep in it to just like I did with mine. But alot of people do not save these huge things. But what can I say, I am a pack Rat.

good luck on your decision.

Well let me be practical first. Are you planning on having any more kids? Are your relatives/friends planning to? That's probably the best darn use to get out of it.

I guess it all depends on how much room you've got to work with here. If you're a church goer you could donate the use of it to the nursery until you can hand it off to your daughter.

Maybe some kind of wall hanging for her stufffed animals? Kind of like a hammock pinned on the wall or hanging from the ceiling?

As for the crib itself I'm clueless. :D

Could some of it be cut up to make a quilt along with some of her other special baby clothes, etc? I'd consider cutting up the sheets to turn into quilt squares and then keep the comforter to give her for her own babies when she is older.

Take one of the peices and use it to make quilt. You can add things to this quilt as the time goes by. I started one to give to my daughter on her 18th birthday( granted she is only 5 now) however I lost it due to Katrina. So hers will be from now until 18.
Just a thought. You can use easter dresses or play dresses she just does not ever want to take off.

I agree with the quilt ideas- ALSO- are you absolutely sure you won't be having another baby?
