I have a pot roast that bought in Feb. It said to sell by 2-17-06, and I did and put it in deep freezer. Would it be safe to eat now being Sept or should I just throw it out. If I can keep it do I need to thaw before putting in crock pot?

I would if it looked okay..If it is freezer burnt then I would throw it away..Thaw it out in the refrigerator first and if it seems okay then put it in the crock pot.

THROW IT AWAY! NOW!

Oh man, that is going to make one nasty tasting pot roast! I've done that before with chicken. It was in the freezer for months and I decided to thaw it out and put it in the slow cooker for dinner. NEVER AGAIN!

You really shouldn't leave meat in the freezer longer than a month. After that, I've found the taste deteriorates and the meat, no matter what kind, just doesn't look goodl.

It will be just fine but I would thaw it first before putting it into the crock pot.

It is safe to eat if it has been frozen the whole time. The issue with freezing for too long is freezer burn. You should thaw it.

Definitely thaw before cooking it. If it was frozen, it should be okay to eat. You might want to smell it though, before you put it in the crockpot.
