Have you seen What Max Schmelling did to Louis in his prime?

Louis is too small for Vander, you must not forget that Boxing skills have improve since Loe Louis Time, and has Fought the best and the strongest challenger in his prime.

He was counted befor the Tyson fight and look what he did to Tyson.

He beat down the Best Old Heavyweight in the 90's Big George Foreman and Riddick Bowe, Lennox Lewis got Lucky in the second Fight.

Who is the strongset Puncher Louis ever Face? Marciano that was during his when he was Balding and he got Knocked out, he was knocked out by Shchemelling, got Knocked down by Braddock, Gallento, Schooled by BIlly Conn for 12 rounds, and Got a Lucky Decision Against an Old JJ Walcot in their First Fight.

Ill Pick Holyfield 10 round TKO.

Brent F. this would definetly be an action fight between the great Brown Bomber Joe Louis and Evander The Real Deal Holyfield. Louis would establish his punishing jab which would puff Evanders face up and he would land the harder punches against a game and couregeous Holyfield. I believe the referee halts the fight in the 12th round.

I have already deemed that all dream bouts are 15 rds.

Holyfield - W 38 (KO's 25) TF 48 - W pct 79% - KO pct 52% - wins over Dokes, Quawi{2}, Foreman, Tyson and Douglas - KO'ed by Bowe and Toney (Holyfield s/b retired) - #77 ranked puncher - #22 ranked fighter
Great heart/chin
Won Olympic Bronze medal in 1984 at Lt Hwy wt

Louis - W 69 (KO's 53) TF 72 - W pct 96% - KO pct 76% - wins over Canera, Schmeling and Baer - KO'ed by Schmeling and Marciano - #1 ranked puncher - #4 ranked fighter.
The American government used Joe for propaganda during WW2. When he had tax problems, they could have let him pay 30 cents on a dollar. Even the great Joe Lewis (a black man) couldn't get a break.

This will not be an easy fight for Joe. Does this fight happen before or after Joe was KO'ed by Schmeling? There is no doubt that Holyfield would have stood toe-to-toe with Joe. The next question is whether Joe could put him to sleep or not. The answer is no. In this fight, the referee stops the fight in favor of Lewis in rd 13.

Damn right Holyfield went fifteen rounds. Who can forget the greatest Cruiserweight fight in history? His war with Qawi. Mind you, Toney and Jirov is right up there, too.

Great matchup. Holyfield.

Apparently, 'smitty' is going to turn this into a forum on Civil Rights. Can't we even get a break here from this militant black whining?

As usual, da1Prophet has turned in a brilliant analysis. This time, however, brilliant but wrong.
Holyfield is a top five heavyweight.
Top four, actually - I have him behind Ali, Foreman and Holmes - with Louis behind Holyfield.
Bowe gave Holyfield fits - true - but styles make fights, and Bowe was also a much bigger man, don't forget. Louis was no giant either - matter of fact, Holyfield's bigger - so size would work in his favor in this matchup
Louis would be tailor made for Holyfield - too stationary, too small and not tough enough to hang with the holy warrior.

Joe Louis was the greatest heavyweight champ of all time, winning this fight with Holyfield in a 12 round TKO

ya know, this one bears much more scrutiny on second consideration. holyfield, pumped up cruiserweight or not, was a tremendous fighter, w/much better performances and competition AT LIGHTER WEIGHTS! his heavyweight career, though somewhat thrilling, to me just doesn't rank him as one of the greats. joe louis, as small as he was...what, some 185 lbs or so, had what 'the legendary greats' had. he had the ability to pull out the win, even when he was behind(e.g. billy conn) on points. louis also never lost to the same man twice! have to go w/joe on this one, that he would get rocked, but do some rockin of his own, and catch holyfield in later rounds. he had a marvelous economy w/punches and made them count! once he got you hurt, he usually closed the deal rather convincingly. and he had great power for a man his size. even max baer, who may have been the hardest hitting heavyweight outside of shavers, cried to not let louis hit him anymore, when they met. i see louis methodically stalking holyfield around the ring, cutting it off, and knocking him out, say, round 14/15 after a tremendously thrilling performance by both men!

Louis, probably by KO. Holyfield would do what he did throughout his career--show up in great shape and fight with heart and courage--but its a pretty simple case of boxing mathematics in my opinion: In one corner, we've got Evander Holyfield who always had a rap as a "blown up cruiserweight". I love "The Real Deal", but he's probably not more than an "honorable mention" on the list of the top ten heavyweights ever.

Joe Louis, on the other hand, is on a very short list--with one other guy, Muhammad Ali--of the best heavyweights in history. Personally, I rank him number 2 all time but he's definitely in the conversation. In fact, most of the boxing opinions I respect rank Ali/Louis #1 and #2 in some order--in other words, in terms of all time great heavyweights its Ali, Louis and everyone else.

Remember how much trouble Riddick Bowe gave Holyfield over the course of his career? Bowe--who doesn't make any list other than "biggest waste of potential" or "all time worst manager"--was in his all too brief prime a total package of power, skill and speed. That gave Holyfield fits--so I don't see it going well for Evander when he gets in the ring against a fighter with the same "total package" of speed, power and skill, but to a degree so far out of Bowe's league as to defy comparison.

Holyfield wouldn't embarass himself and would come to fight, but he'd be in over his head against the #1 or #2 best heavyweight in history....Louis in a cakewalk....
