No I most certainly do not! What is it with people and their obsession with an 'afterlife' and 'soul' and etc?! It is something that was made up by people hundreds of years ago, before science. Yes, they couldn't have known that we think because we have a brain, and we feel because we have a nerve and whatever system.

Seriously, if a 'soul' really existed, and it was something that could think and feel independently, then why do we require a body?!

Anyway, loads of people talk about deja vu to prove the 'afterlife'. I know what deja vu is. I have experienced it myself. But it is not some 'memories of the past life' or whatever. It is probably a dream, or something that you saw on the TV.

I'll give you an example. Imagine an 80 year old dude, who walks into the Heathrow Airport and suddenly has a deja vu! You'd think...yup, memories of the past life... But if you thought about this properly, you'd realise that if that dude's 'soul' was supposedly in another body prior to the dude's birth, there is no way that the 'soul' could've experienced it, because Heathrow Airport would not have even existed in 1920!!

Yes, I believe in karma, the afterlife and fate.

I believe if you do wrong in this life you will have your karma either in this life or the next.

I also believe if you do good in this life you will be rewarded in this life or the next.

I also believe at the same time that our lives are somewhat predetermined, though the course can always be changed or altered.

I also have lived in many places that have people and animals from afterlives. As though waiting for someone to join them, or finishing unfinished business that remains after their death.

Nope, we only created the concept of an "afterlife" because we are all scared of death. Its also a great way to control people and stop them commiting "sins".

Personaly I think that once you are dead you are gone, you have no "soul" all you are is electrical signals passing between brain cells.

Also what makes humans so special, is there a hamster heaven? Do they have to prey to a "god" because they are afriad and can't understand the world around them?

My advice to anyone reading this is to lead a fairly moral life but accept death as a fact of life. If their is a "god" then you can go and float around in heaven or burn in hell. But if not it doesn't matter because you are dead.

You delude yourselves with false hope, I should be giving you my sympathy that you are unwilling to even questiion something you have been raised with. As a scientist I have no bais and can prove nothing, but neiver can you. Religion gives us the hope of meeting our love ones, it controls society, it enforces morality, it prevents anarchy. It has its advantages, but it there is no truth in it. My mind questions it beacuse im the sort of person who questions things. I respect peoples views but what I can't accept is people being ignorant and not open to questioning their own beliefs.

You can believe what you want these are my views.

i believe in reincarnation we have 22 incarnations and then leave this realm into another , which one i havent figured out yet.
I dont think i could ever except we just die, too depressing, but i think nature clearly shows through the endless symbology of cycles thats things are renewed and that humans as well move through stages and when they reach the end ('death') we restart again like the seasons

The afterlife is not very different from the life you lived before this one, do you remember you life before this one. well now you know what to expect.

of coarse I base my life on that simple truth. I don't bash other people for their beliefs but for all of you that said no I know you probably don't care but I really hurt for you and am scared for you. I don't know what turned you away but I am sorry you have a life with no purpose. God and his son Jesus will give you a purpose and a future. May god be with you. I am not putting anyone down but reading some of the answers first I was just heart broken for some of you. :(

Oh yes...we have been promised a new awakening once we die. THIS cant just be it surely?? If I truly believed that im not sure there is any point in doing your best for your neighbours in this world.

So yes i have to trust in His words and believe that one day I will sit with Him :)
