It's a silly little tit for tat thing that believers say to try to argue with atheists about what is rational. Seeing as how religion is obviously irrational, they make this ridiculous attempt to compare their reasoning to ours. When you don't have any ammunition, you're forced to throw rocks. This is just one of their rocks.
There is no "faith" involved in atheism.

Faith is relative and difficult to explain as fact is as compared to faith or hoping
It takes at least some faith to believe or not believe anything. Atheist just find it more logical and more evidence pointing them to not believe
Atheists, as far as i know have their own personal beliefs that make sense to them, they may range and often are similar to ones of other religions and it doesnt necessarily make them bad people. It is almost science based. It says i may not know exactly what is going on, but nobody does, but i just dont think there is a god.
not to be confused with agnostics, who admit that all religions are somewhat wrong but may still be helpful, and that they do not know enough to rule out anything including a god but prefer to live their own way without religion or using aspects of all of the religions as help to become a better person or the way someone studies culture or mythology
sorry to offer a logical discussion
I guess next time i'll have to join in with the "christians are stupid" or "non-christians are going to hell" arguement

Atheism is not faith based, Atheism is defined as people with no religion and no belief in a higher power - therefore, by definition, it can not be faith based.

The evidence for the existance of God is so overwhealmingly strong, that it takes more blind faith to be an atheist than just about any other religious system.
Bible believing Christianity is not based on faith. Its based on the fact that Jesus rose from the dead. A fact recorded in the Bible and witnessed by over 500 people who were still alive while the New Testament was being written. A Christian's Faith about what will occur in the future is based upon the facts of what occured in the past.
For example I have faith that my car will start tomorrow morning, even though it might be 10 degrees below zero in my hometown of Chicago.
Why?
Well, for one, my car is relatively new and according to the manufacturer's specifications in the owner's manuel, it is not even scheduled for its first tune up yet.
Two, my car has always started in the past.
Three, since I'm in Florida right now, the weather in Chicago does not matter.
So you see my faith about my car starting tomorrow is based on the facts which occured in the past.

Some think atheists put faith in science, scientists, and scientific equipment to believe what science tells them. There is a big difference between the trust we put in science and the faith believers put in mythology, because science is based on the physical world and mythology is based on our imaginations.

that would rely on your definition of religion. in case you notice it as synonymous with have confidence, then arguably sure. Atheists who've formulated a theory that no gods exist are, it would desire to be mentioned, trusting their very own capability to reason. Theists are trusting that somebody who wrote a given little bit of scripture wasn't extreme, nuts or merely mendacity. you could have confidence somebody without unavoidably being waiting to at that factor articulate why, yet that does no longer mean that your have confidence is delusional or unfounded in reason and journey. in case you mean faith contained in the sense of sticking to an opinion in spite of sturdy evidence to the choice over the vulnerable or non-existent evidence in favour, then atheism isn't a faith place.

They need to believe that the absence of religion is just as much a leap of faith as the presence of it. But as someone once said, it is as much a faith as not collecting stamps is a hobby.

Atheism is not faith based. It's in fact the lack of faith. Atheists require proof. "God" has not provided any proof.

People have reasons for their lack of faith. In this, it is a faith-based system: faith that these people's own thoughts are accurate. And normally they set about to prove the lack of proof, which is a stab at proof.
