I'm diabeteic and everyone is telling me I can't give blood or plasma or other things like that when the nurses said I can as long as my curculation is good, which it is.
Is it okay for me to give blood or other things?
Am I at greater risk for infection?
Should people be freaking out by my desicion?

I am diabetic and I give blood every three months. No problems at all. Good luck and thank you for giving blood.

Your doctor should give you your answer based on your medical condition. Diabeties alone should not make you a bad canadate for giving. You should not be at rish of infection providing there are no other issues with your health. Should people be freaking out? Dunno.

However, STD's considerations & places you've traveled to can cause the Blood Place to refuse your gift of blood.

When you give blood you have to answer a long list of questions about your health (some just make me giggle because they're so out there).

Anyway, if there's any health reason you can't give blood it will be on that form, and the doctors will catch it before they stick a needle in you.

Best wishes

I think it is good you what to give blood but look after yourself first cause depending on what type of diabetes you have you are at risk. has in small breaks can lead to ucler's if not looked after but remember do not cut your own toe nails but I am sure you have been told all this. has of other things talk to your nurse

as far as I know, being diabetic is ok. If the nurses says its fine, then you can do it. If your friends have a problem with it, then tell them it's not their blood.

If those in the medical profession say it's ok then it's ok. It's not like you can "catch" diabetes.
