The Japs bought up land there but Hawaii land ownership is actually a 99 year lease on the land because they want to prevent rich people from owning the entire island.

By Japan, do you mean the government of Japan or do you mean Japanese citizens? I doubt the government owns any part of land in the U.S.

As for Japanese citizens owning part of Pearl Harbor, I don't know. I highly doubt that Pearl Harbor is owned privately by anyone--Americans, Japanese or otherwise. However, if the land is privately owned and is able to be sold on the open market, why shouldn't they be able to own part of it? The past is the past. Moreover, they have been a strong ally of the US for the past 60 years. US citizens own land in other countries. Why should people from other countries own land in the US, especially if from countries that we consider an ally?

To those that oppose, enough with the hate mongering!

If anything, I think the Hawai'ian islands should be returned to the native Hawai'ians.

Just the opinion of a Yank who is not Japanese nor of Japanese decent.

Pearl Harbor is part of the United States of America so I do not see how Japan could own part of it.

Japanese own much of Hawaiian land. What's worse it seeing them at the memorial taking pictures with huge grins pointing out at the Arizona gravesite.
