WASHINGTON - Investigators believe that their criminal investigation into the deaths of about two dozen Iraqi civilians points toward a conclusion that Marines committed unprovoked murders, a senior defense official said Friday.

The official did not disclose specific evidence. The incident, if confirmed, could be the most serious case of criminal misconduct by U.S. troops during three years of combat in Iraq.

According to a congressional aide, lawmakers were told in a briefing Thursday that it appears as many as two dozen civilians were killed. And they were told that the investigation will find that "it will be clear that this was not the result of an accident or a normal combat situation." The Marines are an embarrassment to the United States but Mr Bush states the Marines act the way the Americans want them to act. To kill is the fine proud American way.

The only way as Bush says.

The United States Marine Corps is anything but an embarrassment to the United States. A few Marines does not represent the entire Corps. I would like to see where these quotes of "Mr Bush" came from. Maybe from thin air?

First of all Im a Marine and proud of it. Second why dont you come to My Base, Camp LeJeune North Carolina instead of hiding here on the net trying to stir things up. Ask a Marine about some of the stuff they see in combat. Their buddies are killed right next to them. Some die quickly, and others use their last breaths asking their friends to tell their wives and mothers that they love them. Even if these Marines are guilty and did kill in cold blood, they have seen alot of stuff over there and are probably going insane. PTSD is real and a terrible thing for anyone to go thru and alot of our military is going thru it right now at home and while deployed.

Why bash on the military. What can we do? We have no say in anything while deployed. So what good does it do to bash us. I personally think that you are a moron and a coward and you need to go back to your hole.

No, and I support our Marines 100 %.
What a few individuals were accused of is unbelievable to me and is not in any way what the Marines stand for. These individuals will be tried in a court and if found guilty will be dealt with.
I can tell you that these individuals were separated from their unit very quickly for their own protection. This is not what Marines are trained to do and this is not how Marines conduct themselves. Do not tarnish the name of our US Marines - they are doing a job most people wouldn't do and have paid the price to wear the uniform proudly.

This is an embarrassment to the US Marines, but certainly does not apply to the entire Marine Corps. The Marines who did these deeds are just the bad apples in the boxcar full of fruit. Most Marines are honor bound and would never think of doing something to bring discredit on the Corps. I think when you make gross mis statements like the ones you are making you are doing the same thing that everybody in the middle east is whining about. You guys are complaining that a few terrorist should not make everybody hate everyone from your world. I think the same thing applies here. You cannot discredit 200 years of Marines for what a handful of individuals did.

Hell No!! The Marines are bearing the brunt of our fight in Iraq and they have always served this country proudly, nothing can ever destroy the past glories of the corps. We have lost more Marines in Iraq then any other branch of our military. Thier sacrifice deserves our respect and to stand with them , and to not judge the actions of a few until all the facts are in evidence and then only to hold those accountable not the entire Marine Corps past and present.Up yours Murtha!!!

Right now there is only an investigation. So what happened to innocent until proven guilty. Stop slandering Marines when you do not know the given situation they are in! And if a Marine(s) is found guilty they will be punished.

War is hell ain't it buddy? Fukc em. Did you react the same way when the Iraqi "civilians" were lopping off American heads? Doubt it sissy. Don't attempt to understand war and its atrocities if you have never participated in war itself. Kill-em all, let God sort-em out!
It's funny how the overall approval rating was sky high when we first invaded Iraq; and now that people see this war is for real, they take their frustrations out by their willingness to sacrifice the soldier instead of the government. Quit crying and live your life, unless you want to volunteer to serve that is. Then maybe your crying will become legitimate complaints.

I think your "anti-war" sentiment has destroyed ank kind of rational thinking. Marines are human, and some are bound to get carried away and make mistakes. This doesn't give any reason to be ashamed of the whole Corps.

I think you are a little testicleless wimp who could never be a marine, or any kind of serviceman. What you need to do is grow a pair, let some testosterone flow through your body, and find out your dick is there for something else besides pissing.

I have served with Marines and am proud to have done so. I remember the good old days in this country when a person was presumed innocent until proven guilty. You want to change that part of our constitution, huh?

No I am not ashamed of the STILL PROUD MARINES

those individuals on trial do not represent the Marine Corp or our military as a whole.

That is the point you must understand.

You pointed out a key point in your own statement there yet you totally ignore it for what it represents.

Here I'll show you....

" The incident, if confirmed, could be the most serious case of criminal misconduct by U.S. troops during three years of combat in Iraq."

Did you catch that?

Let me show you again with emphasis....

" The incident, IF confirmed, COULD be the most serious case of criminal misconduct by U.S. troops during three years of combat in Iraq."

IF confirmed...

COULD be...

Now if these individuals did do what they are claimed to have done, then by all means they need to be punished to the FULLEST extent of the law. Even to the point of putting them to death for their crimes.
But they do deserve the right to a fair trial. for they may be innocent.
They may be the victims of propaganda and lies by the far left liberals who look to any excuse to slander and disrupt the war against those who want us dead.
They may be the victim of people like YOU who unfairly judge them guilty without even knowing the facts of the case.

The question here is this...
Are you ashamed of YOURSELF for attacking and hurting the very people who put their lives and freedom on the line everyday so that you may sit free and enjoy your life.

I think you should
