Mr. Bush said he couldn't imagine Bin-Laden capable of experiencing 'the joy of Hanukkah' As a gentil neither do I but his statement aroused my curiosity about this tradition.

It's an odd thing to say given the joy of Hannukkah is the miracle of the lamp oil. The Hebrews only had enough oil for the lamp for one night but it burned for 8 days, hence the Minorah which has the 8 candles, one lit each night of the festival. I know there is more to it, but this is the crux of the holiday.
