I live in Thailand.
1. depends on the situation. people are proud to die for the gospel every day in persecuted nations. but if some drunk guy comes up to you with a knife, i'm pretty sure you should push him down.

2. Justice by revenge is not christian. however, God has ordained the leaders of nations to pass judgement on what is just. So, in a perfect world, we could rely 100% on the justice system to be following God's will.

3. If people were all loving, there would be no need for armies at all. so nobody would fight.

1. You have a God given right to protect yourself.

2. Justice/ revenge? It depends on the motive. Justice is about preventing people from harming others. (Put someone in jail until they are willing to stop hurting people.) Revenge is about making them pay for hurting you in the past.

3. What would happen if people like Ben Laden and Sadan H. were allowed to continue and America turned the other cheek? Their evil would continue to take the lives. Therefore, war is often necessary in order to save more lives.

I see your point.
Situation is kill or be killed, (Not unrealistic in today's world)
Christianity states not to kill / murder.

The law of 'love your neighbor as yourself' Mat. 22:39 prevents you from taking revenge, retaliating, etc.

Jesus said to "turn the other cheek" to a wicked one who slaps you. Mat. 5:38

A slap is an insult for if that person wanted to inflict harm they'd use a fist, knife, (nowadays) gun, grenade, etc. So we are willing to be humiliated or insulted.
Jesus was not saying we should be stupid.
Even in ancient times God's law allowed for the unintentional manslayer to not be put to death. Even said if there was a stuggle in your home at night and the intruder died the owner would not be bloodguilty. Ex. 22:2
The point being if someone came into your home you don't have time to consider if they simply want to steal your things or inflict serious harm?
The fact they came into the home while you were there = they don't want to steal... this is more serious.
Christians do not go out to kill, nor do they prepare for battle. They would defend their home and their family.
But don't apply these principles to warfare where now it isn't your home but your homeland, and isn't your family, but your nation... for is you do you have crossed the line of proterting yourself to allowing others (Govt.) dictate what should be protected, and who should be killed.
Christians are nuetral to the world's conflicts as they support God's ways. In this "the world" it's governments, it's militaries, etc. do as they please. True Christians take no part in their conflicts.

In the 1600s a so called civilized people left the oppression of a King in England and sailed to what is now America. Here they made a new life for themselves.
There are many lands closer to you than America, and things here aren't so wonderful anymore. But, the idea is the same......

Defending yourself is not murder!

Killing someone in a government-sanctioned battle is not murder!

Read, analyze, and investigate the Bible as your answer. God was with the Israelites as they battled many people on their trek to the land God gave them. That was not murder.

Defending yourself, as Samson did, by killing thousands with the jaw of a donkey is not murder.

Read your Bible.

The 10 Commandments says you shall not murder. It does NOT say that all forms of killing are sinful.

What is murder? One example is killing innocent people to terrorize others and support your personal goals, somehow in the name of God, is murder.

Defend yourself.
Justice is very Christian- revenge is not.
God will protect His own

I can not do that- pretend I live somewhere where they are trying to kill me because I believe in Jesus.
I believe I know what Jesus would have me do.

There is no need to follow--or even use in following--Christian principles if one does not follow Christ is the Savior of the World.

When you accept Christ as your savior and follow him, all else becomes clear.
