Speed increase can be a few things.. more ram, which is easy, but, a bit pricey..
Clean up your desktop, ie, remove icons, or, at the very least, put the lesser used ones into a folder, clear your temporary internet files and cookies, and then run defrag.
after defrag, shut down and reboot your computer..
should see some speed increase there. :)

Cheapest way to increase speed on any computer is to add more RAM.
If your not the type to keep a clean computer then yes do a system clean up. Clean the registry/Delete programs you no longer use/Clean up your cookies-Temporary internet files-History/ Defrag/ Run spyware scanners
You could also upgrade your CPU but that is expensive.

Increase memory size change cpu if possible. Software suggestions: defrag HD drive, uninstall useless programms, do adware check.
