everyone is God?

It would seem so.

He's saying everything you do to others you do to me
He and his Father are one.

Everyone is his Father, everyone is God.

Am I misunderstanding something here?

Yes you have it right, in the context that we are all part of God through the Christ. Sadly it is the one thing many evangelicals have not grasped since they bring so much misery to those they see as less than worthy. Denunciations against non-evangelicals, Gays, people of different faiths. Always telling someone they are going to hell. Such attacks are not just against the person but against God. This above all, is why I myself have turned away from religion, but not my faith. And yes, they are two different things.

Doing good to others is doing good to Jesus...
I and the father are one........our thinking is the same on religion.
Neither quote was intended to show Jesus as if he were God. He said his father is greater than himself in so many words.

Your treatment of the anointed ones on the earth, his followers is regarded by Jesus as though you're treating him like that.

He and his Father are one in purpose, they aren't the same person

Everyone is a part of the same energy. When you disturb one thing, it has a ripple effect on everyone else. That is the spark of God within us all.

God is his father

This is meaningless. There is no exact interpretation, it is all up to debate. Take the meaning you wish to take and forget about the "true" meaning cuz it isn't clear. ;-)

You are simplifing it.
We are not God. We are co-heirs with Jesus.
We will never be God, we can not create something out of nothing, as God has done.

It is not saying, "everyone is god".
It is like if someone harms your child or parent or any other close loved one.... Hence the saying, " You mess with my brother, YOU mess with ME!
