My favorite is a Rotring extra-fine point fountain pen with a gold-plated nib. It slides over paper smoothly and allows different thickness lines with slight pressure.
veryday stuff, I prefer heavier mechanical pencils and pens. The Rotring 600 series is my favorite.

Blue ink ball-point pens. Especially BIC pens...cheap...but writes smooth!

i prefer mechanical pencils, but coz most of my teachers need that we write in pen, then i like to use a stylo. it has great handwriting and glides smoothly.
