I know that blood cells are mad in the bone marrow. How do they get out? Are there holes in bones for this? This has bugged me for years!

Hi,
Bones are not just hard and solid, they are very much alive. They are very dynamic and have a blood supply entering and exiting them just like other organs. This blood supply carries nutrients and minerals to the bone, and also allow new blood cells to enter the circulatory system

As the blood cells develop from the stem cells in the marrow, they seep into the blood that passes through the bones and on into the bloodstream
