you need the name and addresses of ALL witnesses, written report from the vet and you should have filed a report with the police when the attack happened. The owner of the other dog can always say it wasn't his dog. It wouldn't hurt to take pics of your dogs wound area, the other dog and have a current healthy pic of your dog. Always keep things in writing for future reference.

First of all you should have made a police report.
That way someone could come out and see if the dog is a danger to the children and the other animals in the neighborhood.
Actually you still need to make a police report. Next time it may not stop with your dog it may go after your mother.

Call the police and make a report, you willneed this if you end up in court to get your $. The police can tell you how to go about the rest of the process where you live, but i would call animal control, or the Humane Society, just to be sure you cover all your bases.

Some years ago I had to report a dog that had tried several times to attack me, and the owner didn't do anything about it until animal control came by.

You will have to describe the incident, and the dog. The owner will have to be sure to control his dog in the future.

Good luck!

file a police report and then contact local or city dogcatcher or SPCA. They should be able to help to identify who the dog belonged to. If no help there they should be able to pick up the dog that attacked yours
