When my children are 7 and 8 their teachers were in constant contact with me, through email or just filling out a daily homework chart, what was due, when it was due...etc. That let me know what was required and what to look for in their backpack when they came home. They couldn't lie to me about what they had to do, (nor did they ever try) Lay down rules for your child let him know that if he lies to you there will be harsh punishments...on the other hand when he wroks hard and shows effort of a good grade, let him know that a big reward is to come. Hold him responsible for YOUR actions. Good job = Good rewards....Lieing and slacking = harsh punishment...Good Luck!

my sister went through the same thing with my nephew who happens to be older than your son. one of things that she did was become really invovled with his school work - meaning she would check in frequently with his teachers and the school he went too had a program where parents were able to check what their kids were being assigned online. She build a repore with his teachers and my nephew was aware of that, it was harder for him to lie about homeworkwhen his mother actually knew what was going on. I say don't give up on your child, be involved in any way possible. At this age, your childs only responsiblity is going to school. He has no choice in the matter and he has to understand that. Good luck!

You could homeschool him. I've been homeschooled all my life and I can tell you that it's a wonderful way of learning. Or you can help him with his homework so that you know it gets done. If he's lying about if he has any homework, then you can call his teacher and ask if he has homework and if so, then what it is. That way, his schoolwork will get done and he might even have a good time doing it if it's with you.

allowance and other payments based on grades (good ones) and hard punishment (how hard it's completely up to you) for bad ones. Oh and don't forget no middle zones only very good and very bad that should motivate him..
