By picking them up with her mouth by the 'scruff' of the neck-- that would be the back of the neck. It temporarily paralyzes the puppy so it doesn't flop around and get hurt when being carried. Don't worry though- mom knows what she's doing and won't hurt them intentionally. The effect is temporary and only lasts as long as mom is holding them.

If she's a good mummy, firm but kind.
She'll pick the Pups up in her mouth 2 move them around.

They carry them with their mouths....as for disciplining them I think they bite and growl like I do with mine.
