I am having a new front entry door put in my house. It's going to be a storm security door plus a fiberglass inner door, and a transom. The floor in the entry is going to be porcelain tile (it's vinyl sheet right now). I believe the entire door frame will need to be replaced. Should I have the door done first, or should I do the floor first? I am not doing the doorway myself but I do plan to do the floor myself.

i would suggest doing the door first. Its really easy to put in tile and you can cut it to fit around the door easily. Plus you dont have to worry about cracking the tiles and than having to replace them right after you put them in...if you mess up the floor you have now it doesnt matter because you are already going to replace it.

I would have the door installed first in case there is any chipping around frame and by base boards, doing this could cause damage to the new tile. When they install new door, the frame will be replaced if you want the tile under the frame have the door installed first, I would not do it this way myself, you can lay the tile cose to the door frame, make a few cuts with a wet saw and then grout will fill in any spaces. I hope I helped.

I'd do the door first. Work from top to bottom as painters do...ceiling, walls then floors. If you have the door done first you won't have to sorry about the floor getting messed up. Just make sure you make allowances for the height of the floor so the door will clear it and be able to open.

I would definitely have the door done first just to make sure that nothing is dropped by mistake on the floor and cracks your tile.

Do the floor first, because if something was to go wrong, you wouldn't have to pay even more to repair the door area ..

Floor first, that way if the floor does get damaged it wont be so bad since you are replacing it anyway.
