so many people say they are christans and then go on to be absalute jerks becouse "no matter how bad I am God has forgiven me"? and then there are all the people that say "It's great! your sins are forgiven!" but don't have anything else to back themselves up? and we can't forget all the people who say "you can't be a Christian unless you are completely sinless" and then point at themselves as if they're pure? and that's just the stuff from the people that say they are Christian! we can't forget all those other people that are saying stuff like "Christians are people that arn't smart enugh to live on their own, so they need a book to guide them".

you know what guys? being Christians I expect you to be able to prove the good things by example, not just say "becouse God said so". so next time someone says "why do you trust a God that dosn't exist?" tell them what they need to know! not "becouse I have faith", doing that only help them becouse it gives them no reason why they're wrong!

I agree with you on that. Most of what you said was really good.

However, sometimes people haven't learned enough to have really good arguments. I admit that I need more education on apologetics. I know reasons why I believe in God, but it can be difficult to explain to others.

But you're right that we shouldn't give Christians a bad name. There are many ways we can do this, and we should always guard against it.

In answer to the initial question, "why are so many people giving Christians a bad name?" Why, it's because most of them are giving themselves a bad name. I agree with your comments and details there. Christians are not the only ones apparently not the only ones smart enough to not live out of a book. Judaism, Islam, all their stuff came off scrolls, Wiccans make their own, and stock brokers have the wall street journal. I am not a Christian, but I don't care what someone else wants to do, as long as it isnt impeding on me. Thank you for having some intolerance on your own group-it lets me know that you are smart enough to see what's really going on, and youre not blinded by your "faith"

So what, exactly, is your question?

Christians don't "need a book to guide them." In fact, many Christians do not accept the Bible as literal truth. Christians are supposed to strive to live by example.

In truth, however, Christians are human, just like the rest of us. They have feelings and suffer bad days. When someone verbally attacks you, it is human nature to respond. I might ask you, "Why do so many people antagonize the Christians?"

As for having faith, that is a valid answer. If you don't have faith in God, then you simply can't understand what it is to know salvation.

I'm not Christian, by the way, I just have nothing against them and feel that they are getting a bum deal from many people.

Not all Christians are skin heads and not all Muslims blow up buildings. Each religion has its "bad people" who defy the religion and still claim to be a shining example of it. A true Christian would do the best they can and follow their bible and a true Muslim would do the best they can and follow their Qu'ran. We both except Jesus as the Christ only Muslims don't believe Jesus is God (or His partner) but in the main scheme of things a true (whatever the religion) are taught to be kind, be honest and to treat all others well. It's the ignorance of the religion that gives it a bad name.

Man, I completely agree! Tell em how it is! I think people say they are a Christian, and use it as an excuse to go out and sin and be jerks. True Christians get lost in the mix of "false"-Christians who don't really believe in the Lord Jesus. Nice man.

because so many people that claim to be christians, aren't livin up to it. you have to obey especially the new testiment in every aspect or your not a sincrere christian. and there are so many different versions of the bible out there that give a twisted idea of the true word. the alternation is altered to say what they want it to say, The king James Version is the best and closest to the truth.

Okay.First, gather your thoughts in sequential order, then after typing them in use the spell check button at the top left of the message screen. And more than likely Anyone who has a bad name for Christians is not worth my time to debate with. Because those that have ears, are to hear.

For the same reason any one gives other peoples way of life a bad name. Makes them feel superior, and that makes them feel good about themselves and their choices in life. Many Christians do the same to others.

Christianity tends to corrupt the mind; absolute Christianity corrupts absolutely.

Some people believe in God becuz they were "thought" to believe in God, and when you ask them why, they dont know how to answer. Believing in God does not only require faith, but also personal experience. I believe in God becuz I HAVE personal experience. I have felt his presence in my life and I do believe in God. I wasnt raised to believe in God, yes I have only HURD of his name growing up, but I let him in my life and therefore I know that he is there.
We have been given a choice called free will, which allows us to believe and choose whatever we want. Everyboyd is entitles to their own belief, im not going to sit here and say, NOO! YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE IN GOD! no. I will tell you WHY I believe in God, but I wont force you to believe what I believe.
God has given us a choice, A choice where we want to believe in him, or a choice where we dont.
He is there, He is always there knocking at your door, you just have to let him in.
But dont tell me that I am wrong, becuz I believe what I want to believe. Im not saying your wrong for not believing what I believe. But I believe becuz I have seen that proof in my life, His existance.
