The S80 is completely on a new platform. The engine choices are very different. The new S80 might look similar on the outside but that's where the similarities end. The safety is the usual Volvo safety. The interior is a larger S40 interior, but much better designed. The car is based on Safety, Comfort, Reliability and Drivability. The car is not meant to be a sports sedan, but when pushed, it will perform well.

IM not exactly sure, but I would guess that if it has the same motor and wheelbase that it would be just a facelift and that is it, just different body panels and maybe some new interior parts... same car, but looks different
