I'd like to donate blood tomorrow because I missed that last blood drive and donating blood is my favorite thing to do...the thing is today I have a bug (I'm pretty sure It's a 24 hour thing). Is it safe to donate blood if you've been sick? I'm just barley at the weight limit (I may be a few pounds under). I've donated blood before and I was fine (I had to move slowly so as not to get dizzy, but it's worth it, ya know). So basically my question is.... is it safe for me to donate blood tomorrow?

Yo can always wait another week or two to donate. I appreciate your passion to do something good for the community. :-)

Please don't donate tomorrow. Apart from your own dizziness that may follow, the blood sample won't be healthy for an emergency transfusion. Think, it may go to a Blood Cancer patient who might need for chemotherapy, or someone suffering from haemophillia.

Wait until next week 7 days, and it should be OK. You needn't donate in blood camps always. You can go to private hospitals. They appreciate such efforts. So does everyone else.

No, you shouldn't. Wait another week or so and then try again. They may not even let you if you go, its one of the questions and they may be able to tell with the blood test before hand. I think its great you want to help, but do it when you feel better.

go try and see. they will test you with the little finger prick thingy and if you pass great if not then try next time. just be honest when you answer all those questions. and word from the wise don't drink tea before you go. i did this last time. been giving blood twice a year for 12 yrs and was turned down because my iron was low because just before i got there i had tea with my lunch.

No, you will have to wait some more time after your illness. If you are underweight you should not be giving blood. Find another way to give to your community.
