It can mean many things. . . for example you can go for a spin in a car. . which is to take a drive. . . you can go for a spin in any other vehicle like a boat or plane. My fine lady. . . when she says she wants to go for a spin. . . she means she wants to sit on me and spin which is a totally different thing all together. . . and the best spin there is. . BOO YEAH! BOIIINNNNGGGG!

I had a boyfriend once that would say do you wanna go for a spin with me? that meant go for a ride with him in his car.

I guess it really depends on the context and situation that it is used. It really could mean a number of things if its used as a slang or eupheism for something.

Typically it means to go for a short drive somewhere usually with no specific location.
