Yes I have had this happen to me and I checked with my doctor and he checked me out and found nothing wrong. He said that sometimes people can do this because of dreams. I don't know how true that is. You should let your doctor know about it though. There could be something that's wrong. You never know.

People can develop asthma and sleep apnea at any time, there doesn't have to be a history of it... could be a sinus infection even too! Stopping breathing isn't normal, it's dangerous... it affects your circulatory system, it can deprive your body of much needed oxygen..it can cause damage to your heart... GO TO THE DOCTOR! Find out WHY? Don't play around with stuff like this!

I don't know if it is normal, but i have the apnea and it sucks. i wake up gasping for air. try using 2 or more pillows and give yourself an incline. it will help with breathing while you sleep.
you cannot die from it.

Maybe you didn't actually stopped breathing but gagged/choked because your mouth was too dry. Try keeping a glass of water beside you at night so you can take a sip whenever this happens.

...My friend has this same condition. Called ---sleep apnea.
Must be diagnosed by a doctor right away. You can DIE in your sleep from this condition. My friend now has a system to help him breath so he can sleep. His Supervisor noticed at work he was tired and sleeping at work stationl. He did not know what was happening to him. He is fine now.

You need to see asleep specialist. I have to too. I lay at night and my legs jump around like crazy. Sometimes it wakes me up out of a dead sleep. Good luck.

Yes. It's scary isn't it? I panic when I realize what happened. Strange that I wont get it checked though. I should and so should you.
