Today our five year old rotti just died, very unexpectedly. She had been playing with our other dog in the am then laid down and never got back up, any ideas it doesn't make any sense?

I am SO sorry, how absolutely sad. I have lost several beloved animals and know it is tough to accept. So sudden though- man, what a shame. Can you get an vet's opinion? It does sound like heart attack though.

I had 2 Dobermans that died suddenly of heart attacks. One was walking across the kitchen floor and just fell over and died. The other was in bed with me and just stopped breathing. The vet said that they both had heart attacks. I believe the first one was about 5 when it happened and the second was around 7. They were not related nor were they ever sick previous to this happening. It's quite unnerving, I know.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Hang in there.

My girlfriend had much the same happen to her lab mix. In her case, she had developed a type of tumor that is rich in blood vessels. One of them burst and she bled to death internally. It happened very quickly. I'd never heard of this, but the vet who did the autopsy said it's not uncommon.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss. I'm a dog person and have been there. Hang in there.

I had a friend whose dog got into a can of wallpaint and drank some. Perhaps your dog got into something he wasn't supposed to eat. I'm sorry for your loss.

that is very odd. make sure your car is not leaking antifreeze. antifreeze is sweet tasting but leathal. it sounds like your dog ate something poisonous because it was so sudden.

your vet may be able to help you out.

You should be concerned that what she died of is something contagious. YOu should ask your vet to do an autopsy.

I'm sorry for your lose.

Sorry for your loss, but you may need to have an autopsy to learn that.
