Yup. For Genealogy, having a common name like smith or Brown are a curse. There is soooo much data to look through that you might get overwhelmed.
If you are seriously looking for roots, then start with your vital records and all the living relatives you have. Ask more specific questions, and if you are joking - well I just wasted 3 minutes.

Yes, Brown is the surname for my cousins, aunts, uncles, my grandmother's maiden name, my great-grandfather and his siblings and so on and so on.
Which one are you looking for? A first name would help me give you more information on them.

Yep, My son's last name is Brown. Ours is Williams and that is very common also.
