What taxes are taken out directly depends on how you filled out your W4. Some people like more each week taken out and then get the tax return back and some want to keep more in their pocket each check so they fill out the W4 accordingly then deal with the rest at tax time. If you aren't sure check with your HR dept. they have copies of yours on file and can help you adjust it if you choose to.
