...so expensive to buy and I could not find one without having them shipped. I found a deaf one in the area that was crossed with the pit and dane. I ran in ad in the paper, found the owners and offered to buy the pup. They sold her to me very cheap but my question is...o.k. the great dane is so gental and the pitt is known to be opp. My dad said that they were breed like that to breed the meaness out of the pitt bloodline? O.k. I know hes my dad and he breeds black mouth yellow curs but I don't know if hes right. he breeds a different blood line... I am open to any critisisms, just let me know why you think they breed them like that? If its good or bad and if it depends on which gener was pitt...the female or male???? I'm confused.

Mixing a Pit and a Dane is irresponsible (as is the delibrate breeding of any mixes). There is no reason to do so except money.

Purebred Danes aren't that expensive. It depends on what area of the country you are from and what color you are looking for. Harlequins and blues are the most expensive since they are the hardest to breed for proper conformation and color. Purchase price is only a small pittance compared to what needs to be spent on any dog during it's life time.
When buying a purebred dog be it Dane or any other breed you need to buy from a responsable breeder, one who cares about the breed and it's standard, does health testing (not just simple vet exams), researches lines, does temperament testing, etc.You get what you pay for (although just because it has a high price tage doesn't necassarily means it is bred responsably).

Wow ...what you are doing has nothing to do with breeding .

How could you (even imagine )think to "breed" with a deaf dog ?
And why do u think u must create a new breed ?Without any knowledge ?And sorry if u want something special (in your case a great dane ) why can't you be patient enough to wait and save money to get your dog ?I am just speechless . You should not talk about bloodlines ... you should buy a book about genetics but first you should get a heart ....

i know i get thumbs down now

Pitts just have a bad name. They need a firm hand when trainning. If you spoil them too much, neglect them, or are mean then you can have problems. The reason ppl think such bad things about them isn't bc they bite more than other dogs (looked it up on the cdc website) it's that when they do attack they can do so much more damage. That is the thing with mixed breeds though you never know what you're going to get, it could be more like one breed or the other. My advice is just to get him trained and not to spoil him to much. I think you will end up with a really great dog.

If you are worried about whether or not the dog will be mean, then the dog will only be as mean as you train it to be. and that's with any breed pitt or not. I have 2 1/2 pitt 1/2 lab and they are wonderful. they are agressive only for attention. they are wonderful and loveable and yours will be too as long as you spend wonderful and loving time with them. i know alot of people that have pits and pits are very misunderstood. they are protective of their families and their homes just like you or your dad would be with you. Sometimes there are some that are born mean yes i agree with that but realize there are some in EVERY breed that are born mean. Just love your new baby. and if he has a hearing problem love him that much more. and Kudos to you for taking on a pet that is challenged and probably wouldn't be wanted by anyone else.

It is just a mutt. You cannot breed out the pitbull aggression just by mixing it. Pit crosses are often the ones involved in bites. Look at Chow mixes. They are very much like Chows. It is just a mix someone though would be a good idea. That doesn't work for any breeding. You cannot take a dog with a bad trait and breed it to a dog without that trait and expect it to be gone in the puppies. It takes a long time to breed a trait like aggression out!!! You can't do it in one breeding!!!!!!! It is not like a kink in the tail!!!! Aggression has been a part of the pit for a long time!!!!

They way a dog is raised depends on how vicious they are. Pitt bulls have developed a bad reputation that is undeserved. The owner is the one who needs to be put on a chain for the way they treat that precious little dog. My friend has one that is adorable and friendly. They are good guard dogs, though. Just be kind and gentle with your animal and don't kick or hit her. If she does something naughty, a newspaper with a slight tap will usually help train her to behave. I don't believe in hitting any animal. Mean people breed dogs to be mean. Sorry, hon, but that is the truth.

How much is a pure bred Great Dane ? I would not get any dog that has pit bull blood because I would be afraid of the liability if the dog turned and attacked someone one day. They have a vicious streak in them which is unpredictible. I think having them spayed and neutered does calm them down though.

It is all in the raising of the pit. If you are good, gentle and kind to the puppy and train it and make sure it knows that you are in charge, you won't have a problem. I've seen and worked with some great ones!

With pitbulls you'll never know what you're going to get. Great Danes are superiorly bred and shouldn't be mixed with anything else. Leave it at that. They also have a very short life expectancy....7 years. But they are amazing dogs.

Not true. I have never seen a pit as vicious as a great dane I rescued. He was a threat to society and at his size it was a great threat.
