how should I tell them to to cut her if I want her to be like a teddy bear and not too short. Because whatever I tell them they always make her look like she has a mustache. She is a lhasa apso.

Let the groomer know exactly what you want! They have to know down to the last detail if you want something specific..Bring in pictures of dogs cut the way you want her to look, preferably of her breed. Also, keep in mind that Lhasa usually have straight, long hair and it is slightly difficult to make them look like a teddy bear..If your groomer can't get it, move on..but don't expect a haircut to make your dog look like a different breed..

Are you talking about too short on the head or on the body?

Perhaps they are not understanding you correctly (a groomer is not going to deliberately give you a haircut you won't like, we want the customer to be happy). It is also possible that you are waiting too long to bring your dog in and she is too matted to do the haircut you'd like. Or maybe her hair just won't do what you'd like it to.

If it's just one groomer that keeps getting it "wrong", try a different one. If you're getting the same result no matter where you go, then maybe it just can't be done.

Unfortunately, photos aren't usually helpful since they don't tend to show us what we need to know. But a groomer should be willing to try different things to get it the way you like. Think about exactly what it is you don't like and try to think of a good way to describe it. Why does it look like she has a moustache? Is it because the rest of her face is too short? Is the hair under the chin too long? Is there too much hair on the lips? Is it too long in the front? Try to describe it exactly.

It's very frustrating for both groomer and owner when this kind of miscommunication occurs.

Either tell them that they cut her too short and make her look weird, or if you can't do that just go somewhere else or bring a picture of the tye of cut you want her to have.

You must describe the look you are after, bring in a picture if you can. Your groomer should be able to follow your wishes, if not...get a new groomer.

If you tell them and they still don't do it, it's time to get your dog a new hairdresser. You wouldn't keep going to a salon if they kept messing up your hair. So, why would you put your dog through something like that?

You are paying them to cut it the way you want it, be very specific and firm. If one stylist won't do what you wish, take your dog and find another who will.
