I dont' think they should be allowed too and I'm a student. Why can't they eat at lunch with everyone else. I know you get the munchies sometimes but you can wait.

I really don't think it's such a good idea, just think of mess'. Accidental spilling, on desks, floors, chairs, other students, crumbs, smudges on books, papers being turned in, etc. The time having to stop class to pick up and clean any mess', the time having to clean after class, and what if like some spillage didn't get cleaned up think of the ants the next days!!!
I don't know just a though. : )
Hope this helped.

I'm a teacher with a Ph.D.
I recommend light eating because it helps the student to focus. Today's kids multi-task without trying. Their minds wonder everywhere. If they can snack lightly, they will give more attention to the academic task because their unconscious energy is occupied with snacking neatly. This is just my opinion and observation in different schools where kids can and cannot eat in the classroom.

My opinion is No, because it is a distraction. The students are there to learn; they should be eating meals at home and snacks between classes. As for diabetics, I think they can probably manage a snack between classes, but for those who think they should be treated fairly, how about you suffer with diabetes for the rest of your life, then you can get what you consider "special" treatment. What a childish answer.

Eating in class is a no no for several reasons.

1 - It's distracting to other students
2- You can't pay full attention to the lesson at hand if you are eating
3- It can bring pests due to the messy and or careless nature of some of the children.

Classes for Food prep? Pre.busboy? Restaurant management? NOPE! And if a teacher is allowing that or turned on cell phones, the class is out of control.

hi...
im in h/s and we had to do the same report...but coming from me...i think that we should as long as we clean up or mess...but if u go to PGBHS, we are not allowed to eat in the classrooms because our school is filled with rats and cacaroches...and thats the main reason y we arent allowed to eat in class...i hope that helped a lil...but that can be and example that u could use why we shouldnt or something like that!!

good luck :)

I think as long as it isnt cruncy and loud to eat... go for it. I use to bring mini twix with me to my psych class all the time. Most college proffessors dont care as long as you dont leave a mess behind you. I dont know about high school- they will probably care more. I've noticed that alot of high school teachers are MUCH MORE strict that college professors.

All my professors allow you to eat in class. I think it's totally accepted as long as it's not loud eating , like chips...can get very loud and distractive. If you're hungry, you're hungry, but chose something soft.
