I was having a discussion with some friends the other day about tipping. Are you supposed to tip at places like Sonic and A&W? And do you tip the pizza guy if they automatically added money onto your bill for the delivery?

Sure you do. I am not sure about an A & W, but those sonic people actually bring your food to you. Tipping them is just the right thing to do. If you do not want to tip them, some sonic now have drive throughs, use that. The pizza guy/girl should also get a tip. You can bet your pepperoni the "added" delivery fee did not go into their pocket as a tip, but to the companies bank account.

No, I do not believe you should tip Sonic or A&W. If you look at the way the rules are set up for the taxing of waitstaff, those "servers" do not qualify. Tipping of waitstaff is suppose to supplement the significantly lower minimum wage of $2.13 per hour. (But the employer can only pay that low if the tips on average bring them up to the $5.15 minimum wage that applies to everyone else.)

Servers at those fast food places are paid the standard minimum wage or above. If you feel like they gave you really good service by dropping off an extra ketchup before they disappeared never to see you again beyond dragging your food out to you, by all means give them a quarter. But in no way should they be tipped any more than that since the "service" isn't in any way comparable to a "real" restaurant.

Tipping the pizza guy, or any other food delivery, is supposed to basically take the place of a delivery charge. If you are charged for delivery, there's no reason to tip on top of that unless, again, they pull off something extraordinary beyond shoving your order in your hand. They also are being paid full minimum wage.

I don't tip at fast food places, those people make an hourly wage actually, waiters at a regular place make like 2 bucks. The $1 delivery charge goes to the pizza place not the driver. Even though they do get paid pretty well so I hear, I still tip em 2 bucks or more depending on how much they bring.

If you are served by a "car hop" at Sonic or A & W, then they should be tipped, but if you go through the drive-thru no tipping is necessary.

If a tip is automatically added to the pizza bill, then you don't have to tip the pizza guy, but if its a delivery charge, then a small tip is in order.

You still tip the pizza guy. The delivery charge is for the company to cover gas, not for the driver that brings it to you, No to Sonic and A & W,

I wouldn't tip at fast food places no matter what. They all make at least the minimum wage. As for regular restaraunts, I definately would tip because they only make $2.10 an hour plus their tips. For those that feel tipping is overrated, then I feel for any waistaff person that waits on you. Pizza guy, they make a decent hourly rate, but they still have to pay their gas and insurance and car payments and they are providing a service to make it convenient for you, the others are just doing their jobs.

No you don't tip at fast food places. The rule for tipping is normally for the service they provide for you at your table. For instance, a waiter brings you your food, constantly checks up on you to see if everything is o.k. or if you need anything else, etc. You tip for this service. Fast food does not provide waiters and you have to go and get your own food. Therefore no tipping is required. and Yes, I would still tip the pizza guy because the $ fee they charge is not for the driver, it's for their cost in gas and car maintenance.

I think tipping is overdone, you give it upon receiving good service. No good at service sorry no tip. Don't call it cheap, cause no one tips me for showing up at my job everyday, I get paid and so do all those other people in fact some of the waitresses and waiters get more per year than the people they are serving.

Yes, tipping is for formal resturaunts, not fast food!!! By all means please tip the delivery guy unless he's a fat lazy *** person that will only blow his horn and won't even make an attempt to get out the car like mine did!!! He got nothing!!!

the pizza man doesn't get money for the money they charge you...it goes to the store and to pay for gas ...you tip the man because he is driving 10 miles round trip to your house cause your lazy a*ss can get off your couch and go pick up your food yourself..the delivery charge is only 50 cents anyway and gas to your house and back is defiantly more than 50 cents...how cheap are you ...and as for sonic...I just give them my coin change because they already make 6 to 7 dollars an hour, and I have had those little shi*ts just take the change and not offer it back anyway..most of them are fat lazy rednecks anyway...
