Can anyone tell me what a passive-aggressive man is? I think my man is one. He avoids all confrontation with his ex girlfriends. Trys to spare their feelings no matter how rude they may become to him, but with me , it seems like he doesn't mind hurting my feelings.

Passive aggressive people avoid actual confrontation, but then turn around and make comments or do things to show that they're upset and to upset/undermine the people they're upset at. It's really annoying.

Wikipedia says:
"Passive-aggressive behaviour refers to passive, sometimes obstructionist resistance to authoritative instructions in interpersonal or occupational situations. Sometimes a method of dealing with stress or frustration, it results in the person attacking other people in subtle, indirect, and seemingly passive ways. It can manifest itself as resentment, stubbornness, procrastination, sullenness, or intentional failure at doing requested tasks. For example, someone who is passive-aggressive might take so long to get ready for a party they do not wish to attend, that the party is nearly over by the time they arrive."

I think he's just being inconsiderate of your feelings. Tell him that it upsets you.

Passive aggressive is indirect aggression. An example is when someone doesn't directly confront you about an issue, but instead tries to make you feel guilty. "Go ahead and take my sandwich-I don't mind. I'll just be hungry all night."

If your man is simply polite to others, but directly rude to you, that's not 'passive-aggressive'.

Passive/aggressive is some1 who's almost always calm but can still be disruptive/difficult to deal with w/o getting loud about it. Hence the term... they are passive = calm, but aggressive = being a pain in the @$$.

That being said, it sounds like you're being verbally abused and should put him on notice or dump him. It all depends how much grief you wanna put up with, I guess.

Take care~
