I apologise for the insensitive question I posted on the Witchcraft Challenge. I have deleted that question.
I also apologise, as I promised in the question, because the blog entry indeed has disappeared. A cynical person might suspect that I deleted it myself, which is true, in a sense. But it was the mostly-good-natured responses I got from sincere people that motivated that. Since, by the rules, this should be a question, I re-ask: was there something more subtle at work than my remorse that caused the blog to vanish? I have an open mind about that.

This has been an enlightening discussion for me. Scientists should be very careful in the design of an experiment if they want to prove what they suspect. On the other hand, a really sloppy experiment is OK if you are prepared to believe what it tells you.
Dr Zoom Zoom's suggestion is incomplete. He does not state what he will conclude if someone does accept the challenge AND get the cards right. Magic? Luck? Fraud?
I don't feel competent to select a 'Best answer'. My mind is open on that, too. So, I have put it up to a vote.
Thank you for all the responses. I really did learn something from this.
Mike.

It's always easier to convince someone to do something themself, as opposed to forcing them to do it, or doing it for them against their will.
But I'd rather give you the credit for making the choice to respect the beliefs of others, and for being open to the possibility that the world isn't limited to what scientific machines can measure.

I think since you did not get a bunch of mad, angry responses that caused you to be remorseful. Almost everyone was nice about the challenge. That in a sense cause you to come up with this new question/comment along with an apology. This is a form of sympathetic magic. Like breeds like. You were treated with respect and you thus returned the favor.

I don't know what your challenge was, but why not try this challenge this time?
Seal 5 playing cards in an envelope, get a notary to certify what cards are in it first. Then see how many Wiccans, psychics, "Magickians", Santeros, channelers, etc. can use their powers to find out what they are. Then you can publish the contents of the envelope along with the predictions on the internet.
You won't get many takers.

Obviously someone cast a subtle "I must delete this" spell on you! You should have resisted! lol
Nah, it's good your open minded...but you also shouldn't believe just ANYone who says they are a witch. Actually, most of they people who go around flaunting it aren't the ones I would choose to believe.

Said I to a stone,
"So very well done!"
Now, thinner be gone...
"Be Well!", the new one.
In the end it's always subtle, isn't it? ;)
