What's he getting his wings stuck on? Are there toys in the cage for him to play with/on? I'm sorry, but not understanding all you wrote. I would guess he's probably playing. They're very playful birds, mine swings upside down all the time. As far as the feathers, could be stress related. They're known for that too. Just be sure to watch that he's eating. Sometimes they can revert back to their old formula fed stage. If you haven't already, take him to the vet for a check up. Forgot what age they run the bacteria test, but they'll advise you on the other stuff, and make sure he's all around healthy. Be sure to find a vet that specializes in parrots, or at least sees them frequently.

You could maybe use some fiberglass screen the kind you put on screen doors. Because it is flexible. It also wouldn't hurt him if he was to bite it and use some plastic Ziploc to fasten it to the cage just temporary in the section that he is rubbing. That way you don't have to get a new cage. He may be plucking his feathers because everything is new to him right now and he mite be nerves because this is a big change for him. I think that maybe if you show him lots of attention that it may help. Well good luck I hope you find something that helps.

I researched the net and it appears that the Af. Gray parrot has a reputation for pullling out its feathers. Many reasons are given... Diet, parasites, boredom. We didn't do anything special. Ours stopped by himself after the first moult.
