thunder strike is a realitiy. A very high voltage strikes from clouds to earth or cloud to cloud . the current burns the things on its path. when such current hits person, he/she dies

Of course... if the lightning that makes the thunder is so close that the boom is particularly loud, it can actually scare the hearer to death.. heart attacks have been caused by less noise than that.
