the best treatments out there are the once a month topical treatments prescribed by your vet. I use Revolution on my Doberman Pinscher. It works very well. It also is a tick, heartworm, mange preventative. Frontline Plus works very well too. Just make an appointment with your vet. Good Luck!

I agree Frontline or Advantix are the only way to go. Many online stores offer it cheaper than brick & morter stores. If you can afford to buy 6 months at a time is the cheapest way to go. These are monthly applications to your dog's fur and the medicine is absorbed into their bodies thru their coat/skin. Fleas won't want to bite them any more and will eventually leave your home as well.

Garlic CAN BE TOXIC to many dogs. DO NOT feed dogs garlic.

Bombs will only fill your living space with toxins that can make you sick over time and perhaps cause serious medical problems. Fleas are very tiny and the bug bomb "smoke" doesn't reach where they can & do hide. It does reach where you and your family touch, thus it generally gets into you, but not the fleas.

First bathe your dogs with a good flea shampoo,
then take your dogs to the vet and get them Advantix or some other medication to prevent fleas (the stuff you buy in a store does NOT work!).

While you have the dogs out,
flea bomb your house.

It is also helpful to spray your yard, but is you live someplace where the temps are getting colder,
that won't be neccesary.

This is the only way to get rid of them and KEEP them away.

You need to dip the dog to kill all the fleas on it first. Then the Advantage or FrontLine. But, what most people don't know, is that both of those don't repel the fleas. Only kills the fleas AFTER the dog has been bitten because the flea ingests the poison and then dies. My dog is severely allergic to flea bites. One bite and she gnaws herself raw. Our yard has a lot of sand, so it has been hard treating the yard. Also, garlic in their food. Garlic repels fleas. One pest guy told me to try putting sulphur powder in the yard, but I don't go for that. My dogs lick everything. Don't waste your money of flea collars or powder. Keep them clean and the Frontline. But use a shampoo that doesn't contain soap. That way when they get bathed, it doesn't wash off the Frontline.

Frontline is a good product that will repel and then kill the fleas. Don't bathe them for a couple of days after you apply this. Flea collars work only partially, so would not recommend. I have mentioned several times on this site that Brewer's yeast powder is very good for repelling fleas. It depends on what your choice is. Watch the dog commercials on TV, and decide which one you want to purchase for your dogs. Thanks for caring enough about your dogs to want to rid them of fleas. Frontline also works for ticks as well. The bottle will tell you how often you should apply this product.

bathe in dawn dish soap, or, go to the store and buy cap-star and frontline, STAY AWAY FROM HERTZ, at work we've had a lot of animals that crash and some even die, the capstar works within 30 min. and lasts for a day (but it's only $2 or so) and frontline takes a day to work, stay away from flea collars and flea baths. As for the rest of your house, usually all you need to do it vacuum, get the edges, get under the furniture, normally that does the trick, hope it helps!

Go buy frontline or advantage. Sold at some pet stores and almost all vet clinics. It's a once-a-month treatment. Works great. Don't cheap out with a flea shampoo or collar, those only work half-***.

Well, to remove the fleas that they already have, you can take them to their vet and have them do a flea bath. Then to prevent fleas in the future you can get Frontline. It's a drop of medicated oil that you put right bethween their shoulderblades like every six months. It works. It's not that expensive either. I am not sure what the flea bath at the vet will cost.

Bathe the dog in a few drops of dawn dish detergent. It works good. You may also dilute water with Vinegar, put in a spray bottle. Spray on the dog as needed. I tried both. It worked for me.

I use frontline plus and I give her bathes in the hartz flea shampoo for extra protection. Making sure you keep your house vaccumed and keep the dogs bedding washed. That should do it!

Good luck:)
