My dog started limping yesterday on his front foot, we looked at it and it looks like his pad is swollen and very rough and coming off. We gave him an asprin last night, we put peroxide on it, and we wrapped it with a gauze pad and tape, however we couldnt get it to stay on, as soon as he went outside and slipped off. Is a vet needed? or is this normal, will it heal, any better way to get a bandage to stay on? Thank you.

Dogs can wear their pads down from too much exercise on concrete pavement. You won't be able to keep a bandage on it - no matter what you try, it'll fall off or he'll chew it off. Put antibiotic ointment on it as often as you can, and keep him on grassy areas to play. DON'T take him running on sidewalks or streets until his paw can heal.

Keep an eye out on it, if it gets swollen or starts oozing pus, then you need the vet ASAP. But it should heal on its own, and his play needs to be better supervised, and you need to check out where you exercise him to see if there is anything else that might hurt his paws - like sharp rocks, thorny bushes, rough concrete, etc.

You don't need to go to the vet unless you think it is infected. This is very common and will happen to most any dog at some point in their lives. My dog had a pretty bad tear on her paw the last time she had a check up and the vet told me to use neosporin on it. Just keep it clean. he'll be fine. Good Luck.

Take him to the vet.
The way I get bandages to stay on my sheltie's feet are to bandage the wound, then cover with an infant sock and then use medical tape to secure the top of the sock to their leg. Works really well.

Yes, take him to a vet. Stop giving him asprin - you might make him sick or worse on top of the hurt paw.

They may stitch it up. Same thing happened to my dog years ago. I don't remember if they stitched it but they did bandage it in such a way that it stayed on and I had to put a plastic bag on her when she went outside.

Definitely take him to the vet! If it is infected, he might need some antibiotic or something.
