Feel for your Pedal pulse on top of your foot. Its on the top part new your shin on the outter side. Dont feel with your thumb it has its own pulse and will confuse you. Also if cold to touch or cooler than the rest of your body. If there is severe bruising and swelling and you cant apply weight to your foot. Another sure sign is something might be sticking out. It could one of two things broken or sprained. Have an X-ray done of foot. It could just be HAIRLINE FRACTURE.

swelling usually indicates a strain or sprain rather than a break. You should keep it wrapped and elevated and ice it. You could go have it x-ray'd and confirm if its a broken bone, but in the feet they usuallu cant do anything but cast it to imobilise it, which you can do yourself with a tensor bandage. Dont walk on it, and get crutches if you can. It will feel better sooner the less you have to use it.

Any severe bruising or hair-line fracture or sprain could causes swelling, and not being able to put weight on a "good" injury is pretty standard. Some fractures are actually obvious to the eye, but if you had that kind you wouldn't even be asking.

The only way to tell is to have it x-rayed.

If your foot is broken you would not be able to stand the pain. When you break a bone it hurt's so bad. that you almost feel like dying. It's probably sprain or bruced real bad. put ice on it. and take a few pain killers. sorry hope u feel better.

Even if it isn't"t broken, it still needs to be X-rayed. You don't want to deal with a badly healed ankle for the rest of your life or worse yet, have it fixed when you are in your fifties and arthritis has set in.

You can't walk or even hop on it and a x ray would be helpful.
