No, there are no "barracks" for children. If you're a single parent or a joint military family, you must have a Family Care Plan. That way, if you're sent TDY or deployed, you have someone to care for you children. If you don't have anyone to help take care of your children, you're removed from military service.

There are no such things as children's barracks. Once someone is married or has a child they move out and into either military housing or off base housing. There is child care (on the bases I've been to it is generally 6 am to 6 pm M-F). I have never been on a base with 24/7 childcare, I was Marine Corps, so maybe another branch does. If a parent is a single parent (or both parents are active duty military) they have to fill out a special power of attorney/will saying that if they are deployed a family member will take care of their child. The military won't babysit children while someone is deployed for 6 months or longer. Think of the children, that would be just like being in an orphanage.

no again the military doesn't babysit. when there is a single parent in the military they are required to have a short term and long term family care plan. which means they have to have someone available to watch their child/children for short times such as during the work day, when they will be training for 1 day to a month or so. the long term is for during the deployments and longer training times. most single parents in the military rely a lot on their family and friends to help with this. but no children's barracks. worse cases I've seen is where the parent had no one to help them with the long term and they ended up putting their child in a foster home for the time.

No. The parent will get military housing. The child has to go to daycare while the parent works. Most bases/posts have child care centers that are open 24/7.

No, when my single friends are deployed, they have to find care for their children, some take them home to stay with family, some place the kids with military families. One friend who has fairly short deployments (3-6 months) has to drive her daughter 1400 miles (round trip) change his school and leave her with family. She is one of the lucky ones. She doesn't have to pay for child care.

no. It is the responsibility of the parent to make all arrangements for child care. The military is NOT a giant Day care center or foster home.

No. A plan to care for the children must be in place in the event one or both parents deploy. The children are sent to whomever the sponsor determines to be the guardian in such cases. Often it is grandparents. There are no other accommodations for children.

no.

the military doesn't babysit.

Why are you asking again? Why do you want to know?

AZoasis - what bases? I've been on 2 and the one here closes at 530. Fort Bragg's aren't open 24/7 either....
