I have recently found details about my birth parents after searching for a number of years. Obviously i am concerned to found out whether i have a history of serious illness in my family for my children's sake. How can i find this out? Any help would be extremley useful and gratefully received.

Well most places you can't sometimes it depends on the laws of the state you live in . However, thats what the HIPPA is. You will most likely not be able to review the records medical anyways. Have you tried just looking for them.

you can't access their medical records without their permission. You could contact them and explain who you are..and request the information from them. You could get someone else to do it for you if you are not comfortable with it (Maybe your husband or a friend) Hope you get the answers your looking for.

You can't unless they give you permission to see them, they are completely confidential records. If they are still alive and you are in contact to them you should ask. If they are deceased you may have a legal right to see them. Phone the Health Board to ask them where you stand.
