The pup has been sick since she got it. I know that it had ear mites at first. They have been horrible to work with after they got paid. I called the local Humane society and was referred to the Dept of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection. I wonder if there is a website to evaluate breeders?

Go to www.akc.org and either report by phone or e-mail. It would be interesting to know how you consider the breeder to be irresponsible, ie., inbreeding, falsifying breeding document, improper kennel, etc. The breeder in question may or may not be listing their dogs with the AKC but if they are, you will get results.

Evaluating a breeder is YOUR job. YOU are the one who decided to buy a pup from a crappy, uncaring breeder. You should have done your homework!

I am sick of fighting stupid laws regulating breeders because people can't be bothered to research their purchase! Your average american citizen will spends hours researching the right CAR to buy but a living thing? No, they just say "oh, that puppy's cute".

Do it differently next time. Live and learn. We don't need more stupid laws to protect people from themselves.

There is probably a dog breeder society. Report him or her or call other breeders and ask them. An irresponsible dog breeder needs reporting.

Is your dog registered with the AKC or another registry? Those registries are supposed to field complaints about the breeders who register their dogs with them. That's sort of the whole point behind them but frankly, the often fall down on that job.

Just dial 911 or contact the animal shelter in your area and they will be happy to come out and check the situation. It is such a shame that people do things to animals and treat them with a lack of compassion.

the humane society is the one who should be checking in on it if they refer you to someone else then contact the state humane society and not the local site. it is their responsibility to handle these matters.

Notify the American Kennel Club in New York City if they are purebreds.

Call the cops and they can tell you who to call...Tell them there is mistreatment of animals going on. They may have you call animal control, or may coe deal with it themselves. Either way, call the closest police station.
