Buddha once told to us to reflect it to ourself before we do anything . For example , if we were to kill the ant , we shall put ourself into the mind and soul of the ant to feel their feeling . Know whether are they feeling pain , scared , anger and other feelings which you wil have if you know someone is going to kill you .

I understand that having ant in someones household area is very disturbing . I do have this problems too , however what i did is , i just take up a broom and swept them away and shove them out of my way . Thats it and i dont create bad karma and the ants dont get killed .

We must understand that every living being is just striving to survive unlike human beings , while they are striving to survive , they also fought hard to accumulate wealth . The ants and other living beings requirements are only to survive . So , if these living beings are not harmful to us , maybe we can think of a way to live with them .

Or if you want to get them to move , you dont have to kill them but only apply some ant repellant and hopefully they will go away.. Does i clear your doubt?

It seems strange that life is held sacred too them, but only animal life. Plants are living and do not demand the same respect, nor do bacteria, fungi, or monerans.

I wonder if a buddhist has ever killed an amoeba, which is classified as a single cell animal. Would that be acceptable?

They have drawn a an arbitrary line in the sand, just as vegans, passifists, and even meat eating, war mongering, ant burning Americans such as myself have .

There is no position they can attack because they have also accepted that it is ok to take life.

We just deal with it. Its not as hard as you think.
and in response to one of the above answers, if you're not intending to kill something, then that's totally different.
