the thing is that there is a dog and its little dogs next to my house, the dogs always do "their thing" on the backyard, and the neighbor rarely cleans it, so i have to smell it every day, for like 8 hours, because is next to my room., it is not that hard, the smell, at least when i close my door, but sometimes it is opened.

does the smelling of these dog faeces represent a risk to my health?

Try this and get them to sh*t in their own house instead.

One would think that air-borne particles that could float into your home while the door is open might be able to harm you... especially if you think about what all could be crawling on all the dog poo and making a colony infestation of germs.

I would call the local health department in my area and report the neighbor for not keeping her yard clean and risking contamination to an entire neighborhood.... then I'd make a call to the local humane society, animal control, even an organization like PETA... not cleaning up behind an animal like that is definitely neglecting the animal and this neighbor of yours can be fined, lose her animal and possibly even risk jail time for that sort of laziness.. PEOPLE THAT CAN'T TAKE CARE OF ANIMALS AND NEGLECT THEM DEFINITELY DO NOT DESERVE TO BE PET OWNERS!

Good Luck with your situation!

Im a council enviromental enforcement officer and deal with this daily. If your back garden is shared, then they are breaking the law. It is an offence not to clean up dog faeces. If its a private garden then i'm afraid they can do what they want, but have a word with your council enviromental services, sometimes having an officer turning up on your doorstep and making you feel like dirty mingin' scum of the earth works wonders! cheers

Dor cr*p is harmful, not least because it harbours germs that get transfered by flies, but also a parasite lives in it, which can cause you to suffer from Toxicara (go blind).

The smell would drive me insane. Not cleaning up dog cr*p is anti social behaviour, perhaps you could contact your local councillor and ask them to take out an ASBO on the owner - a proper use of ASBO's.

The fact you have to ask on here means it's affecting you in some way , it's very unhygenic these are the type of people that get dogs a bad name. call the council it must be a disgusting view as well

Your neighbour is VILE!! Why not try having a word with them about it you definitely shouldn't have to put up with that. If they are funny with you report them to the environmental health or better still don't bother talking to them about it just report them anyway, I think they should be made to clean up it's not fair to you or the dog as it must be treading in it's own cr*p.

I dont think it can hurt you, but it would drive me crazy. Dog feces isnt toxic in the gasses it releases, but it STINKS! so close your door... I would complain to the city about this person tho, because it isnt right for you to have to put up with that. Or ask the person straight out...maybe they dont realise its smelling up your space too.

I would not think the smelling of the feces would be the health hazard, what about the flies this will attract ? they would cause a risk to health !!!!!!!!

Never heard of it.
It is possible, however, it will be when you have a health problem that it will be confirmed.

It is possible for you to get a fan which is always pulling air out of your room to the outside?

Best Wishes!!

The smell itself won't pose any health hazard to you, however, there could be "stuff" in the feces that becomes airborn, and if you inhale them, could be bad for you.

Oh, thank goodness that you are smelling it from their yard! I had this mental picture of someone having a fetish of getting down on their hands and knees sniffing dog poop!
