You can tone down the color with a glaze that is easy and inexpensive to make at home. You can use almost any color, but if you want it to look like aged plaster, travertine or just a little less yellow, burnt umber would be the choice. You simply mix 1 part acrylic paint, one part water and one part Floetrol. The more water or Floetrol you add, the more transperant the glaze will be. You can get Floetrol at any Home Improvement store in the paint aisle. It is used in glazes to give you extended working time.
You have several choices as to how you apply the glaze, so test out a method on a piece of chip board before you apply it to the wall. You can use a natural sea sponge dampend and blot it on the surface. You can then use a soft cloth to blend it or leave the texture of the sponge. You can apply it with a soft cloth in a circular pattern, blending as you go for a softer, stone-like look. You can use crumpled plastic wrap or newspaper to get a textural look. Or you can roll it on and take it off with a sponge, rags, newspaper or plastic wrap.
In fact, you can add more than one color of glaze simply by building color and allowing dry time in between.
You cannot mess it up, it is fun and it will definitely look better!
Check out the HGTV website for some examples.

there are several possible solutions:
1. tell your dad that colour is so nasty it's giving you headaches just to spend 5 minutes in the room.
2. cover your walls with so many posters till you can no longer tell what colour were the walls.
3. cover the walls in so much dirt your father will just have to paint it again.
4. buy some really thick curtains so it's always a bit dark in your room and you won't really see the colour of the walls.
5. try to exchange rooms with another member of the family;
6. tell your dad that your room looks so awful you'd rather move up and live in the bathroom (if you have only one bathroom, he'll do anything to prevent that)
7. complain about having nightmares and eyes problems because of the colour of the walls. if necessary, start screaming in the night for help or anything...
8. tell your dad that he either repaints your room or starts paying you therapy sessions, cause that colour is driving you mad....
well, i hope this has been helpful and i sincerely hope at least one of these solutions works. good luck.

How about giving us a picture to work with? Without that, all of our answers are given in the dark but here goes anyway.
1. Paint over the yellow. Yellow takes too many coats to look nice (and so does red).
2. go online at look at faux finishing ideas. You can easily rag another color wash over your yellow.
3. Email me at info@divadecorsredesign.com for more ideas

Look at your room without the color, where can you put drapes, linens, pillows in another color that will tone down the yellow? Where can you put shelves with your favorite things on them and backdrop it with a mirror or even old large picture frame with plain paper in the accent color you choose? Do you have space to create a large headboard to hide the wall? This could even be done with fabric hanging from the ceiling down. Also do not use another primary color such as a dark blue or red unless you are a toddler or your room will look like a daycare center. Can you put up shelving units to hide part of the walls, if you have a desk area in your room expand out your message board area to cover even more wall space on the wall.
You could do a faux finish on the wall as well but make sure you are clear on how to. HGTV.com has an interactive designing space you should check out.
Last but not least remember your Dad painted your room out of love for you, so try to be tolerate of it... it will fade in color in time.
email me for other suggestions, cause I did this to one of my daughters... I'll tell you what we did untill we could change the wall color...

DON'T use any more yellow in there--use dark blue or some other dark color for your bedcover--it will help tone down the yellow. Also, find some pictures that accentuate the bedcover's color. You might want something that has just a hint of yellow in a picture (like a still-life with one or two light yellow items in a sea of other, darker colors).

tell him -- offer to repaint it yourself. Yellow is a really hard color to try to paint and like -- make sure the paint you do choose doens't have a lot of "green" tint in it -- sounds like that might be the case -- green looking yellow looks terrible. and dated. Good luck!!

The puppy looks too youthful to be offered, in spite of the undeniable fact that the way he's preserving it isn't an difficulty. the mum canines includes her domestic dogs by employing the scruff, and it would not harm them. so as that should not be hurting the little fellow...

Is the paint dry yet? Because it often lightens as it dries.
How about hanging some pictures, something to offset the color? Or, if you just can't adjust...time to repaint.
