I don't try and make inferences about Islam. My reasoning for it thought is not so much based on my interpretation of Islam, but that I don't want Muslims interpreting my faith for me.
Any casual observer knows that the Christian faith is diverse. It has a swath of people from all over the globe from all sorts of political, social, and ideological backgrounds. They all bring elements of this into their Christian practice. Some do it in such a way that the Christianity becomes militant, construed or otherwise vulgar. Such a group is the Ku Klux Klan. It claims to be a Christian organization, yet some of their practices are somewhat of questionable, such as promoting white supremacy militantly. A Muslim could look at Ku Klux Klan and make the generalization that because they do stuff, that all Christians must do it. This is the fallacy of composition, saying that the parts are the same as the whole, which in truth the Ku Klux Klan is a small minority of the Christian population.
As a Christian, I cannot make the conclusion about Islam. Islam like Christianity is very diverse. There are a few of militant Muslims out there, but these are a minority compared to the whole of Islam. I would commit the fallacy of composition to say that one particular group of Muslims such as Al Quida for instance represents the whole of Islam.

Islam first of all is not a menace to humanity. There are good people and bad people in ALL religious followers. An act is dubbed as an act of terror by some one who does not like the doer of the act. Acts of terrorism is spread throughout the world and are not confined to nor perpetrated by the followers of Islam alone. Are not Catholics and Protestants fighting and killing each other in a certain country in Europe? We conveniently do not call this as a terrorist act!

Just because some muslims are terrorists, does not make islam a violent religion! Or else we could say the same thing about christianity.
Almost every christian I know cheats on his/her spouse - I guess that means christianity is an immoral religion. Same line of thinking???
BTW bobbi: how can the bible say muslims are anti-christ - ummm, islam was born 800+ years after Christ walked the earth! Dummy!

Look at Christianity. Look at what has been done and still is often done in the name of Christianity. Look at many of the quotes in the Bible. You can find just as much justification for killing all Christians.
Now do the math. Let's say there are 600,000 Islamic terrorists in the world. That's as many people as are in all prisons and jails in the US right now, and nearly four times as many troops as the US has in all of the Middle East.
600,000 Islamic terrorists. Out of a Muslim population of 1.2 billion. That's 0.05% (1/20th of one percent). Meaning the other 99.95% of Muslims are not dangerous.
By comparison, about 0.5% (half of one percent) of everyone in the US is a felon or ex-felon for a violent crime. That's 10x the ratio of terrorists to non-terrorist Muslims. Since such a high percentage of US residents are dangerous criminals, doesn't it make sense to eliminate all everyone in the US because we're a menace to humanity?

"There is no compulsion in religion (Islam). Verily, the right path (Islam-Monotheism) has become distinct from the wrong path (Polytheism), whoever disbelieves in "Taguth" (all false Gods) and believes in Allah (only God), and then he has grasped the most trustworthy-handhold that will never break. And Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower" (Qur'an 2:256). The only times in which Islamic believers are allowed to take up arms are when they are defending their own lives and the lives of their people. When they See the weak being oppressed in acts of tyranny, and when they are prohibited from practicing their religion. Aside from these circumstances, there is no legitimate fighting in Islam.

I have read the Koran; it is no worse than the Bible for violence. I absolutely don't believe that it incites its believers to violence. I am a Christian, I have read the Bible many times, and I never felt violent because of it. My husband works with some Muslims; in fact, his boss is a Koran-reading Muslim who has a great reputation in this peaceful town of ours. So out with the prejudice! It will do the world no good.

Would you like it if I pulled quotes from the bible out of context, if you read the bible, literally it says:
-KILL who:
Curses his parents
"The suckling and the infant, leave no one"
Works on a Sabbath
Atheists
Cut off women's heads who are not veiled during a prayer
IT DOESN'T WORK THIS WAY!!
