So the seat belt rule is put into practice for my safety. What about motorcycles on the road and helmets why not for their safety. What about putting us all in car seats they are supposed to be the safest. Or have us all wearing mouth guards cause you might fall down while walking and bite your tounge. I dont have a problem with wearing one just want it to be fair. Click it or ticket for my safety why arent you worried about everybodys then.

Your right. To me it is one of the phoniest laws to come about. The government is trying to save me? It that were true, ciggerettes and alcohol would be banned. They kill thousands more then the unclicked seatbelt. The cost is enormous in health care on these substances as well. Ciggerettes and alcohol are big money makers and are addictive so they decided to leave it alone. Its really not about saving your life, its about enforcing a law that simply can BE enforced. Have seat belts saved people? Sure they have , but not even remotely close to stopping smoking or banning alcohol that causes more deaths and imprisonment that anything on this Earth. Do they really want to save you? Whos kidding who?

since nobody else has answered yet, i take the opportunity to share the little knowledge i have. if in a car u meet an accident and ur car topples over(God forbid!) and u are without a seat belt, u know u wud feel like milk shake in a mixer, which is definately not safe. eventually the car wud land either with top up tyres down or vice versa( cos the surface area is more) so u can be safely pulled out.

Bikes are as it is unsafe. and during an accident if u try to belt up the rider God knows where and how he wud land up. and there are 100% chances of the bike landing up flat on either side. (need i say more...) the helmet definately help in such a case cos as soon as one falls off the whirling bike his head atleast wud be safe... everything else can be plastered later...

i hope u wud understand and follow road safety rules and ask others to do the same...

I think those that drive a motorcycle do so on their own understanding that it may be their death sentence. But that is why they inforce the helmet law (so you don't crack your head open) and have a more complicated test to take (more safety provisions to know while driving a motorcycle) I guess you've never seen a "fatality"? My brother works as a highway patrol officer and I went along with him for a ride along. I just so happened to be with him when he was called to an accident. It was awful and the idiot did not wear his seat belt for some unknown reason. He was thrown out through his window because the impact was so strong. Listen to the laws they do have good reason to inforce them.

well, we have to wear seat belts because not only is it the law, but if you were to hit someone it minimizes the chance of you flying out the window. motorcyclists don't have seat belts they have helmets. like kids have helmets and knee pads. thats why they inform you when you get your MC driver's license that if you are speeding and were to get into an accident you could have bodily damages that can not be reverse and/or can destroy your life. by wearing a helmet it protects one of the most important part of your body... no not your face, Brad Pitt! YOUR BRAIN!!!
cars have other safety features which are basically back ups for seat belts like an airbag...
laws such as wearing a seat belt are not made to make money, they are made to protect you. its not like police are trying to make money off of it. obey the law and you wouldn't be complaining. no offense.

and plus when you fall on your face, you arent falling at 25-65 miles an hour with collision.

If you had ever been in an accident you would soon find out. Especially if it is one where you are hit in the back by someone who is driving too close and has not time to put on the brakes without crashing in to you. Without seat belts you would have far more to worry about than a whiplash injury and that's bad enough!

I personaly am bugged with this law.....if i forget to buckle up in a vehicle that i "own" and the police "dont"..then why am i fined for it if i get caught not wearing it? I feel if i own the vehicle and i simply forgot to buckle up...what right do the police have in issuing me a ticket?? Sure i believe belts save lives...but it should ultimately be my choice weather to wear my belt or not. This really sounds like a way for the states to make money doesnt it ?? Whats next on there list? Fines for too low tire pressures?

What bothers me most about this is that I see workers in the back of a pick-up truck with no safety features whatsoever. But I guess that's legal. Even worse is seeing little kids in the back of a pick-up. Dogs, too. Even a fender-bender could kill or injure them. Once again, rules are only for some of us.

I don't like that it's a law for adults. I understand and completely agree with the law for anyone under 18.

I do wear mine - due to accidents and as an example for my kids.

To save your life! Motorcycle helmets are law in many places. So are bicycle helmets. These things don't take away from your freedoms they just let you live longer. I think if we didn't have the laws it would serve you right to die in a car crash.
