What about all those American budget films made in the '50's & '60's with leprechauns and the fake Irish accents....maybe that has something to do with it...
or
Maybe Bord Failte should take some of the blame too....

I'm part of the 'everybody' and I don't think 'everyone' in Ireland is a leprechaun, only half of the people are, right?

But to be sure you are blessed, with lovely scenery, wonderful accents, the best stout ever, and pretty good at telling the odd yarn or two.

well first of all if you're irish then the avatar isn't helping, secondly i'm irish but so far no one has asked about my leprechaun persona, but i've heard stories about people thinking we have a family of leprechauns in our garden and a pot of gold.
Crazy, eh?

I dont think that people think that us irish are in fact leprechauns, i think they believe we have leprechauns in ireland and that maybe irish people have seen them

i dont think anyone actually believes that irish people are leprechauns - although if anyone does then that is simply laughable!

Although saying that my unlce is quite a tiny little man who always wears green and his little brown buckle shoes are indeed pointy mmmmmmmmmm i wonder

You'll never get my lucky charms!!!!!

Seriously though, it's because every country or culture has stereotypes. The leprechaun one is a bit silly , but it's harmless.
