I use chome polish on my deactivated display ammo only because it's what I happen to have handy. Any kind of metal polish will work.

personnally i like to use brasso but if that doesnt work try iron remover that you would use in your bath tub. but a good metal polish should do the trick. many people do not realize that even a little corrosion of the jacket will affect the ballistic coefficient of the bullet and will in turn affect its accuracy when shooting distances past 100 yds. and if its bad enough it will even cause larger groups at 100 yds. this corrosion can also come off in your gun and cause a malfunction. i personally had a hi-power that wouldnt eject because it had corrosion from the ammunition that had lodged underneath the ejector. so cleaning your ammo is a very good thing.

i just thought id add those reasons for those asking why you are cleaning your ammo.

Place them in a rifle and fire them. The rapid rifled passage down the gun barrel will send them out the other end bright and shiny.

Seriously, how badly tarnished are they? Is it simple tarnish, or is there evidence of corrosion. If the bullet is at all corroded, DO NOT use it. It can be dangerous.

Why? If you must, then use an pencil eraser, or a bit of brasso on a rag. Of course if oil gets in the primer or powder, the round can misfire, but at least it'll be 'purty'

My first question would be Why? Are you afraid the targets that are hit will become infected?

Not slamming hunting by any means, just never thought it important how the projectile looked..........
