My son is having his 4th birthday party this Saturday @ the local McDonald's. Has anyone else had their kid's party there? What do they do? Do the employees help out at all? What can I expect? Thanks so much!

The reason I asked this question now instead of before I reserved the place is simple....my little one has been asking me since his last birthday to have a party there! LOL....

Thanks for all the input. I've talked to a couple of people that I work with and they've told me good things too :0) I guess it's good that I live in a small town. The people here are much nicer and the playplace is always clean :0)

We did 3 & 5th birthdays there.
If its anything like ours its cool. Hopefully your McDonalds has a playland!!
The employees set up the table with party hats and decorations. The birthday girl/boy gets something special. Everyone gets a goody bag too.
They take food orders and bring everything out together so noone has to wait. The staff are RIGHT there if you need help. Sometimes the staff will all come over and sing too.
It was wicked fun. Hope this helps and have a great time!

Don't let her go. If there's one thing you don't want it's for her to associate McDonalds (crap food) with fun, friendship and happyiness. Seriously it doesn't seem like that big a deal but it is subtle suggestions. Why do you think they came up with the idea of having parties there? If it's her first time being there I wouldn't let her go. Maybe you can take her before the party just so that her first experience of it isn't the party. Either that or don't let her go at all, it's not as if she's missing much. Besides the food, which I don't care to put down, it's up to the individual. There isn't much to do at those parties. But like I said if she does happen to have a good time...

You usually have a hostess who does most of the work but sometimes they are lazy. That is when you ask for the manager and get the party for free. No kidding. But if you have one that is worth having then you can sit back and relax and pay the bill when you are done. Also it would be nice if you have a good party hostess to give her a 5-10 dollar tip. You know McDonald's does not pay worth a flip

Firstly I really think you should have asked the question before deciding to do his birthday there - or any where.
I'm from New Zealand so it could be very different. The employees do the setting up, serving and cleaning up - which right there, is already a BIG help. They don't help supervising the children though - their parents should do that anyway, not you. Take along a couple extra adults with you just to be on the safe side.
The children will have a ball, and that's all that matters really!! - not to mention your son will think you are the coolest Mom/Dad for giving him a birthday party at Ronalds 8-)

We had our daughters 3rd birthday there and they all had fun, however our local McDonalds didn't help out or anything...they wouldn't even reserve tables for us. We did talk to the restuarant manager a couple weeks before hand and they had informed us of that.

Since you'll probably be going with her to the party, just make sure she understands that it's for special occaisions only and that the food is very bad for her. Let her get something other than the typical fries and burger and show her how to keep making good food choices.

If they have a birthday party package then it should all be outlined there. If not..it sounds like it's a glorifed lunch of fat and hormone injected meat.
The play areas are dirty and unsanitized and I'm being honest when I say that fecal matter is found on trays.
